COLORING PROCESS

Description

This tutorial is based on one of my recent series work, Bloody. I've done a tutorial before, but, because the way I color changed a lot since then, I decided it was time for another tutorial update.

Tutorial (for photoshop cs users)
  1. Start sketching in your drawing roughly, but clear enough so you can start producing cleaner line-work on top.
  2. Make cleaner and solid lines. Thickness depends on how you like it to be.
  3. Color in the shades. I color in grey tones first. Use a large soft brush with 40% or lower opacity and flow. Do not turn on shape dynamics. Create a smooth transition. Use the smudge/blur tool if necessary.
  4. Add a skin tone on another layer with blending modes. I also went in and colored in the hair.
  5. Add in more darker shades and highlights for more dimension. You can always use extra layers for blending mode to add in more colors.
  6. I used color balance to edit the skin color. I also colored in the eyes.
  7. I forgot to mention. Clipping masks always help in keeping the area you color within a certain area. That is why I have millions of layers when I work on anything. So, color in the shape, create a new layer on top, right click that layer and choose clipping mask. Like so, I've made some details in the eye. I'm also getting the bloody hands ready for the clipping mask layers.
  8. Changed the color to bloody red and added darker colors on top for a thick-blood-effect.
  9. Glossy highlights for the blood
  10. Background color added and I used color balance to correct the skin tone to my preference. Vampires are dead so they should have a cold skin tone, I think.

Any questions or thoughts, feel free to ask me in the comments section! Thank you for your time!
